SHERYL

Starting Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom has changed my life. I work 18 to 20 hours a day, and I love it. I’m working more than I ever have in my life, and I have never been happier. I don’t have to worry about the kids or failing. It is my time to make the world a better place, and now it is my time to do so instead of worrying about money.

Everything I do is based on science—on Dr. Gordon Allport’s theories. Dr. Allport says if you take two people and put them in contact frequently, the magnitude of this relationship will be seen and adopted by the entire community. So my goal is to take one Jewish woman and one Muslim woman, multiply it by everyone in the 150 chapters of SOSS—and still growing!—and change the world.

The coolest thing is that the women in SOSS tell me that the relationships in the chapters are more intense than they have with their regular friends because the desire is so strong to makes change and to create peace.
